That's too deep buddyģ - Do you have a ball valve on the output of the return pump? (if I remember correctly when we talked, you do).Ĥ - Since your using socks, it does take a little bit longer to get the siphon back, and level off in your overflow box, but it's working as intended. Once I got used to it, I never checked again.ġ - It will always take a few minutes after a power outage for the siphon to purge, and therefor level off the water in your overflow area.Ģ - Your drains in the sump water need to be 1" or less under the water level. I will admit, that the first time I started the system up and then did the "power outage" test, I was running thinking it was going to overflow onto the floor. This is how mine has been setup since the first day. The secondary is to take up any "trickle"/act as a full siphon if the main clogs (hence the use of the air tube), and the emergency speaks for itself. Controlling the siphon pipe allows for different flow/gph/pumps/upgrades in gph down the line without changing plumbing. Kyle, I can come by your place and set it up for you if you want, just let me know.Īccording to BA's thread, the only pipe that needs control is the Full Siphon pipe. I mean, if your way works for you thats all that matters, but in the interest of accurate information for the OP: The original design calls for valved control on the main siphon drain. Not trying to fight you, but I went back and looked at beananimal's original web page on the subject, just to make sure I haven't been running it backwards this whole time. So, do you use valve on the discharge side of the pump to control water level? Seems to me that trying to control water level with the secondary drain would be difficult without disturbing the intended uninterrupted air column in the secondary drain needed for silence. That is if you have a return pump capable of out-flowing a full siphon drain.which I do not. might as well run inch pipe or 3/4 full siphon wide open if I have to run that inch and a half full siphon pipe half closed now I just defeated the purpose of running it at full siphon inch and a half. Either will work but you want maximum flow for the full siphon and if you toggle it back as opposed to the secondary your now decreasing your volume of water processed in the filtration.on a small setup it may not be that much but a larger one will drastically effect your overall initial intended outcome.
